Who We Are

Building a Future Where Nature and People Thrive Together

At Preserve the Environment, we are building a future where nature and people thrive together. Our work is rooted in the understanding that healthy ecosystems are essential to strong communities, food security, climate resilience, and sustainable economic growth.

Preserve the Environment is a nonprofit organization based in Nigeria with a strong commitment to environmental sustainability and community transformation. We were established to bridge the gap between nature conservation and human development, especially in rural and ecologically sensitive areas.

We work with local communities, institutions, public stakeholders, and development partners to design and implement initiatives that protect biodiversity while unlocking opportunities for local growth and resilience.

Our Objectives

Eight Commitments to Nature and Community

01

Protect biodiversity and conserve natural ecosystems through advocacy, restoration, and community-based initiatives.

02

Promote ecotourism as a sustainable tool for environmental protection, cultural appreciation, and local economic growth.

03

Improve rural livelihoods through innovative, environmentally responsible programs that address local development needs.

04

Support clean energy adoption in rural and conservation-linked communities through practical green technologies.

05

Reduce environmental degradation by raising awareness and encouraging sustainable practices at community and institutional levels.

06

Strengthen the capacity of local communities to participate in conservation, enterprise, and sustainable resource management.

07

Foster strategic partnerships with government agencies, donors, civil society organizations, and private sector actors.

08

Advance climate resilience and sustainability in vulnerable communities through integrated environmental and development solutions.

Why Our Work Matters

Nigeria's biodiversity and rural communities face growing pressures from environmental degradation, climate challenges, economic vulnerability, and inadequate infrastructure. At Preserve the Environment, we believe these challenges must be addressed together.

Protecting natural ecosystems without supporting communities is not sustainable. In the same way, development that ignores environmental protection creates long-term risks. Our work is important because it connects both priorities.
